Dr. Gurer received his Ph.D. from the Department of Political Science at Kent State University in 2007. His research interests and areas of expertise are Transnational and Comparative Security Policies, International Organizations and Security, Regional Security, Human Displacement, Refugees Integration and Security Policies, Research Methods and Statistics.<\/p>\n

He has extensive experience in international projects and participated in several internationally recognized research activities. He also attended international meetings on security-related matters and presented papers on “regional and global security”, “comparative policies”, and “institutions.” He has teaching experience at various institutions, taught social science and research methods courses, and most recently gave courses on \u201cInternational Relations and Terrorism<\/em>\u201d and \u201cResearch Methods<\/em>\u201d.<\/p>\n

He has published several articles, book chapters and opinion papers in academic journals on security issues. In addition to teaching and research, he participated in projects with the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), UNICEF and UNODC.<\/p>\n

He also worked with non-governmental aid agencies dealing with Syrian refugees in Turkey and provided consultancy to increase the efficiency of services at the ground level. He has recently worked at George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies as an Adjunct Professor and lectured on \u201cForeign Fighter Threat in Turkey<\/em>\u201d and \u201cRefugees, Camps\u00a0and\u00a0Security in Turkey.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

He is working on two projects related to \u201cpolitical regime changes and security<\/em>\u201d and \u201cconflicts, refugees and integration.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dr Kula holds a bachelor\u2019s degree in criminal justice from the Turkish National Police Academy in 1999 and a Master of Science in criminal justice from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2005. He received his PhD in public affairs from the University of Central Florida in 2011.<\/p>\n

Dr. Kula served in the Turkish National Police for over 17 years in various ranks and positions. In addition to his practical policing experience in the field, he also engaged in several national and international law enforcement training initiatives organized by the UN, NATO, and the EU.<\/p>\n

His research interests include police management, police behaviour, criminal justice policy, terrorism, and quantitative research in criminal justice and criminology. Dr. Kula has published more than 20 peer-reviewed journal articles and several book chapters related to current criminal justice issues. His recent publications have appeared in the International Journal of Criminal Justice Sciences, the European Journal on Crime Policy and Research, Police, Practice and Research, and the Journal of Terrorism Research. His research endeavours have provided numerous insights into some of the most urgent criminal justice problems and assisted in making critical public safety and security advances.<\/p>\n

Dr. Kula is working on two research projects related to global crime threats with his colleagues. The first research project is about analysing global human trafficking trends to understand the relationship between the victims of human trafficking and offenders. His second project is titled \u201cthe Global Terrorist Incidents Analysis<\/em>\u201d, which aims to study the pledge patterns of religious-based terrorist organisations.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Ahmet Celik, PhD<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Celik is an honorary research associate at the University College of London and lectures in many higher education institutions part-time. He earned his master\u2019s degree from John Jay College of Criminal Justice of the City University of New York and a doctoral degree from the Rutgers School of Criminal Justice, The State University of New Jersey. He has also completed a graduate-level Advanced Security Studies Program at Marshall Center, The European Center for Security Studies in Germany.<\/p>\n

During his quarter-century-long successful law enforcement experience, he held various positions, including UN peacekeeper in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Deputy Counsellor for Security Affairs at the London Turkish Embassy.<\/p>\n

He also has a strong background in information technologies (IT). He contributed to the design of an excellent information management system. He has software development experience and great experience working with a significant volume of data.<\/p>\n

He has also played pivotal roles in many successful national and international conferences. He is a recipient of the UN Medal and many commendations at the national and international levels.<\/p>\n

He co-authored a textbook, co-edited two books, and published many scholarly articles. They were all cited many times.<\/p>\n

His research and teaching interests are in security studies, post-conflict territories, peacekeeping, terrorism, national security, and transnational crimes.<\/p>\n

Dr. Tepe earned a B.A. in Security Studies, an M.S. in Criminal Justice from Roger Williams University and an Ed.D. in Leadership Education from Spalding University. He has 18 years of policing experience at different ranks and policing units, including crime investigation, terrorism, police training and background investigations.<\/p>\n

Dr. Tepe lectures about police leadership, management and leadership, leadership in crises, crime theories, community policing, public and private security, terrorism, statistics and research methods. Dr. Tepe authored book, authored \/ co-authored international peer-reviewed journal articles, and national peer-reviewed journal articles.<\/p>\n

He brings a strong analytical approach that combines theoretical rigor with policy-relevant insight, translating complex security and diplomatic challenges into clear, actionable analysis for decision-makers. Dr. Bitmez has contributed to research on international security governance, conflict dynamics, and strategic alignment, and regularly engages with contemporary debates in global affairs.<\/p>\n

His research interests include diplomatic strategy, security institutions, geopolitical competition, and the evolving role of diplomacy in conflict prevention and crisis management. At the Global Center for Security Studies, he collaborates on interdisciplinary projects aimed at bridging academic research and real-world policy application<\/p>\n

Dr. Yilmaz has eighteen years of theoretical and hands-on experience in security, counterterrorism and socio-political analysis. He has worked collaboratively with security professionals, sociologists and anthropologists to do fieldwork in various topics related to security, including radicalization\/de-radicalization\/rehabilitation of individuals from
\nterrorist groups, policy analyses on legal aspects of governments\u2019 counterterrorism practices and political risk analysis.<\/p>\n

He has taught undergraduate and graduate students in counterterrorism, international politics, discourse analysis and research methods based on theory and practice. He has also trained security professionals and local government officials to protect critical infrastructures, emergency management and counterterrorism.<\/p>\n

In addition to numerous articles in international peer-reviewed journals and book chapters, he has published a book entitled \u201cDisengaging from Terrorism: Lessons from the Turkish Penitents\u201d (Routledge 2014), which has

Yilmaz holds a PhD in applied (political) anthropology from Columbia University (2012). He also has a Master\u2019s degree in Criminal Justice from John Jay College of CRJ in New York and three Master\u2019s degrees from Columbia University in the fields of International Affairs, Political
\nAnthropology and Applied Anthropology. He worked at various international organizations such as the United Nations (UN) in New York and Beirut and the Southeast European Law Enforcement Center (SELEC) in Bucharest, Romania. He is interested in Computational social science, and his research interests include political violence, anthropology of terrorism, radicalization and deradicalization processes related to terrorism, identity politics, elite formation and circulation, as well as international security and relations.<\/p>\n

He has extensive experience in both academic and industry settings. As a Data Analyst, Data Scientist, and AI Engineer, he has developed AI-powered tools for digital marketing and solution architecture, including Shopify analysis dashboards, GA4 analysis tools, multi-platform marketing analysis systems, SEO blog writers, and review scraper and analyzer tools. He has also completed numerous data science projects, including customer churn prediction, heart failure prediction, customer segmentation, sentiment analysis, and price prediction using advanced machine learning and deep learning techniques.<\/p>\n

He has significant teaching experience at various institutions. He has served as an instructor in Statistics, Research Methods, Data Preparation and Analysis, Data Visualization, Tableau, and Machine Learning, covering topics such as Linear Regression, Logistic Regression, Decision Trees, Random Forest, Convolutional Neural Networks, and other machine learning algorithms at Clarusway, Ondia, and the Saudi Digital Academy.<\/p>\n

He also worked as a Research Assistant and Graduate Research Assistant at the Bill Blackwood Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas (LEMIT), supporting police training programs and collecting and analyzing data on police participants. Murat Yildiz is a Programme Manager and an expert on global, transnational organized crime and illicit drug trafficking. His professional experience encompasses senior positions within the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).<\/p>\n

Mr. Yildiz worked as a Political Affairs Officer and Research, Development and Training Adviser in the organization\u2019s Vienna headquarters and as a Deputy Director at the OSCE Mission in Skopje, North Macedonia. He worked with the OSCE Secretary-General and Permanent Delegations in drafting OSCE\u2019s First Ministerial Council Decision on \u201cEngagement with Afghanistan\u201d. He designed and implemented several technical assistance projects on countering illicit drug trafficking in Central Asia and other regions of Afghanistan.<\/p>\n

He also worked at the International Institute for Justice and the Rule of Law, developing a \u201cCore Course Curriculum on Succesful Investigation, Prosecution, and Adjudication of Terrorism Cases for Common and Civil Law Systems\u201d.<\/p>\n

He has been working on research projects related to global illicit drug trafficking. Currently drafting \u201cGlobal Update on Illicit Drug Trafficking\u201d takes stock of illicit drug trafficking (cultivation, production, trafficking\/routes and methods, developments on global illicit drugs seizures, consumption, prevalence rates between 2010-2020), policy implications, and the impact of COVID-19. The report also investigates changes in the modus operandi of drug trafficking syndicates. Secondly, he is designing mixed-method research on the financial remittance system of Hawala in the context of the flow of the revenues generated from illicit drug trafficking.<\/p>\n

Mr Yildiz has a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and a Master\u2019s Degree in Educational Sciences. He is currently working on his PhD dissertation in Philosophy and Educational Sciences at the University of Vienna.<\/p>\n

Kutluer Karademir earned his Master’s degree from American University in International Relations and completed his PhD at George Mason University School of Public Policy (now SCHAR).<\/p>\n

Dr Cinoglu is a senior researcher at the Global Center for Security Studies. He has a master\u2019s degree in Criminal Justice and a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of North Texas, USA. He has previously held academic and administrative positions at Karabuk University, the TNPA and its affiliated schools, the University of North Texas, and Yildirim Beyazit University. He was Chair of the Department of Security Management at the TNPA between 2011 and 2015. Throughout his academic career, he has been involved in the mentoring, directing, advising, and supervision of undergraduate, master’s, and PhD-level students in sociology, criminology, criminal justice, social psychology, and public administration.<\/p>\n

He has published and presented extensively in the areas of (countering) violent extremism, (countering) terrorism, (de)radicalization, immigration, crime and criminality, identity formation, terrorist identity formation, and reality construction in total institutions. Dr Kucukuysal stands out as a genuinely multifaceted professional, having a unique blend of field experience, academic expertise, and extensive international exposure.<\/p>\n

He has about 17 years of managerial experience in the Turkish National Police. During his tenure, he actively worked in and contributed to projects implemented by some esteemed institutions such United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), the NATO-Russia Council (NRC), US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), British Serious Organized Crimes Agency (SOCA), The Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation, and Economic Cooperation Organization.<\/p>\n

He also trained many national and international law enforcement officials and provided expert consultancy to law enforcement agencies. He actively participated in and contributed to numerous regional and international meetings, conferences, seminars, symposiums, and workshops.<\/p>\n

He co-edited a book and published several scholarly articles. He also conducted field research, analysed official counter-narcotics and organised crime data, and contributed to official reports to inform policy and decision-making.<\/p>\n

Recently, he has been working on two research projects focusing on global human trafficking trends and analysing the pledge patterns of religiously motivated terrorist organisations.<\/p>\n

Dr. Mustafa D\u00f6nmez is an accomplished scholar, author, and retired Police Chief with a distinguished career in law enforcement, academia, and international service. Born in Adana, Turkey, in 1974, he graduated from the Turkish National Police Academy in 1996 and dedicated 20 years to the Turkish National Police. Throughout his career, he held diverse assignments and rose through the ranks, retiring in 2016 as a Police Chief. His international service includes a year with the United Nations Mission in Kosovo, where he was honored with the UN Honour Medal.<\/p>\n

In addition to his policing career, Dr. D\u00f6nmez pursued graduate education in the United States. He earned a Master\u2019s degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Cincinnati in 2008 and a Ph.D. in Public Affairs from the University of Central Florida in 2011. His academic work has resulted in numerous scholarly articles, book chapters, and encyclopedia contributions, as well as several authored books. He is particularly recognized for his insights into policing, crime prevention, organizational behavior, and community safety.<\/p>\n

Dr. D\u00f6nmez has also made significant contributions as an educator. He has lectured at universities and training institutions, delivering courses on subjects such as management, research methods, and communication. In 2025, he joined North American University in Texas as an adjunct faculty member, continuing to share his expertise with students in the field of public affairs and criminal justice.<\/p>\n

Beyond his academic and professional achievements, he has led innovative community policing projects that received national acclaim, including Turkey\u2019s Best Community Policing Department Award in 2013. His career reflects a deep commitment to bridging practice and research, always with an emphasis on public trust and security.<\/p>\n

Currently residing in Switzerland with his family, Dr. D\u00f6nmez continues to contribute as a researcher, educator, and prolific writer whose works reach both academic circles and general audiences.<\/p>\n

Mr Kocaman holds a bachelor\u2019s degree in criminal justice from the School of Security Science in 1997 and a Master of Arts degree in International Security Studies from the Bundeswehr University, The Collage of Germany Federal Armed Forces, The University of Munich in Garmish-Partenkirchen in 2013.<\/p>\n

Mr Kocaman served in various ranks and positions in Turkish Law Enforcement for more than 26 years. In addition to his practical policing experience in the field, he also engaged in several national and international law enforcement training initiatives organized by the UN and NATO.<\/p>\n

He is an extraordinarily dynamic, confident and results-driven professional Law Enforcement Officer with 26 years of successive experience in security, conducting investigations, law & order, public service, law enforcement training, armed police operations, police force activities and particularly negotiation tactics with Terrorists Organizations. His research interests include external and internal inquiries, public safety programs, counter-terrorism operations, emergencies and crisis management, policy & procedure development, budget planning & management and media & public relations tasks.<\/p>\n

His research produces some of the most remarkable insights about the behaviours of terrorist organisations\u2019 aims and activities. It proposes precious lessons about the negotiation processes with radical and extremist groups.<\/p>\n

Mr Kocaman is now working as a security adviser and conducting a research project on the tactics of negotiations with terrorist groups. His project is titled \u201cThe Settlement Process with the Terrorist\u201d, which aims to study the radical and extremist terrorist organisations in the UK and the USA.<\/p>\n

\"\"Yakup Calisir<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Mr Calisir completed 24 years of police work in different police units of the Turkish National Police (TNP) as mainly police chief and in the international civilian police forces.<\/p>\n

He completed his MA degree at the Institute of Security Sciences in the program of security strategies and its management. He also had the necessary credits in the PhD program of the same institute on the program of security strategies and its management but had to leave the program on the stage of qualifying for his dedication to delivering and designing police training programs for the Turkish National Police as well as foreign police forces.<\/p>\n

In the academic sphere, Mr Calisir’s commitment to fostering international law enforcement cooperation and capacity building is evident as a Resident Twinning Adviser counterpart for the EU Twinning Project on Training of Border Police in Germany.<\/p>\n

Dr Unal earned his PhD in Public Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University\u2019s Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs in 2010. His research interests focus on public administration, emergency management, and quantitative analysis.<\/p>\n

Dr Unal brings decades of experience in public administration through teaching, research, and public service at institutions such as Artvin University, Yozgat University, and the University of Security and Public Administration in Ankara. He served for 21 years in government, primarily in instructional and training-focused roles. In 2016, his public service ended after he was dismissed from government employment as part of a broader administrative purge. Throughout his academic career, he held faculty appointments at multiple institutions, including Artvin University, Yozgat University, University of Security and Public Administration in Ankara, and interagency training programs, where he taught courses in Public Administration and Emergency Management.<\/p>\n

His teaching is strongly informed by extensive field experience and emphasises applied learning, critical thinking, and active student engagement. In addition to his domestic academic roles, Dr Unal brings international experience from his service with the United Nations in East Timor.<\/p>\n

Dr<\/span> Sahin<\/span> is an e<\/span>xperienced researcher, police executive (retired), and lecturer with interests in substance abuse prevention, fighting drug trafficking, crime prevention and transnational crime. <\/span><\/p>\n

He received his Master\u2019s degree in International Relations in the School of International Service (SIS) at <\/span>the <\/span>American Un<\/span>iversity, Washington, DC. After<\/span> receiving his PhD <\/span>in<\/span> the Doctoral<\/span> Program in Public Affairs at the Universit<\/span>y of Central Florida in 2010<\/span>, he continued to research while serving as a police chief in different regions of Turkey and later as a professor at different universities.<\/span><\/p>\n

He worked<\/span> as <\/span>the <\/span>director of the Turkish International Academy against Drugs and Organized Crime (TADOC)<\/span> in Ankara, supported by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC<\/span>). <\/span>He developed and managed several international training programs on transnational cri<\/span>mes, including<\/span> international drug trafficking, financial crimes, money laundering, <\/span>and <\/span>organize<\/span>d crime<\/span>. As the director, he closely worked with several international organizations such as the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (U<\/span>NODC)<\/span>, <\/span>Bundeskriminalamt (BKA- <\/span>the<\/span> Federal Criminal Police Agency of Germany), the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), the British Serious Organized Crimes Agency (SOCA), and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).<\/span><\/p>\n

Besides his <\/span>career in law enforcement<\/span>, he<\/span> continue<\/span>d his academic work by conducting<\/span> empirical research and scholarly <\/span>publishing<\/span> in this field. He worked as a<\/span>n associate professor at the universities<\/span>\u00a0in Turkey, including <\/span>the National Police Academy. <\/span><\/p>\n

His<\/span> research has been published in various scholarly venues, including the <\/span>International Jou<\/span><\/a>rnal of Public Administrat<\/span>ion,<\/span> Journal of Child & Adolescent Substance Abuse, Criminal Justice Review<\/span>,<\/span> and<\/span> the European Journal on Criminal Policy and Research, <\/span>among others. <\/span>He <\/span>also <\/span>co-authored <\/span>two books and published several book chapters.<\/span>
\n<\/span>His research <\/span>is primarily focused on<\/span> the areas of security studies, <\/span>drug law enforcement, substance abuse <\/span>prevention<\/span>, and transnational crimes.<\/span><\/p>\n
